Preparation of Country Case Studies on use of Information and Communication Technologies [ICTs] in the Forest Sector
Assignment Title: Information Management and Technology for Forest Governance: Country Case Studies
Assignment Country: One to three countries (to be identified) in South and/or South East Asia.
Assignment Description: The main tasks to be carried out are (a) collect information on cases where ICTs have been/are being used in the forest sector in the study countries through field visits and discussions with the relevant stakeholders; (b) prepare case studies in the format agreed with the World Bank team
The consultant will be provided background information on the study being carried out by the Forests Team in the World Bank and on the case studies which need to be documented.
Length of the Assignment: Up to 30 days during the calendar year 2010. The exact start and end dates will be determined at the time of award of contract.
Consultant Qualifications: The consultant will be an individual based in the region. The consultant is expected to have the expertise in the following areas:
- at least a Master’s degree and at least 8 years of experience in forestry/ natural resource management
- knowledge and experience in forest governance and law enforcement issues
- an understanding of the use of ICTs for development in forest, agriculture or related sectors
- knowledge of country context in case study countries
- ability to prepare well written documents in English
Fees: A daily rate in US dollars will be fixed as per the World Bank rules for locally hired consultants.
Terms of assignment: Individual consultant, local hire.
Submission of Expressions of Interest: The EOI, with a detailed CV (including nationality, max. 5 pages), reason for interest in the assignment (max. 1 page) and a description of relevant assignments carried out previously (past five years), should be submitted no later than May 14, 2010 through World Bank eConsult2 or directly to RYndriago@worldbank.org.
