Summary

Background

Agribusiness_3

Agribusiness entrepreneurs need advice on business development and management, marketing and market linkages, access to finance and regulatory requirements, quality and safety standards.  They also need access to proper equipment and maintenance services.  Those entrepreneurs trying to bring a new technology to market need to know how to assess market feasibility, protect intellectual property, raise investment capital and market a technology new to that market.

Business incubation can provide these essential supports to agribusinesses and agro-industries.

With this spirit in mind, The Ministry for Foreign Affairs of FinlandNokia Corporation, and infoDev have partnered to begin in 2010 the programme, "Agribusiness Entrepreneurship: Building Local Capacity to Enable to Growth of Innovative SMEs". This programme aims to strengthen the productive capacity of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in the agribusiness and ICT sectors in developing countries in Africa, Asia, Eastern Europe, and Central Asia.
