ICT Components in World Bank Education Projects
How, and why are ICTs used in World Bank education projects?
Summary
Background
Work jointly sponsored by infoDev and the World Bank's Education sector (HDNED) seeks to identify and quantify the “ICT components in World Bank Education Projects”. This internal study is intended to highlight issues related to the use of information and communication technologies by donors in the education sector, and help point the way to more coherent strategies, consistent methodologies and rigorous planning related to ICT use to benefit education in developing countries.
This work is part of a larger ongoing project at infoDev to create and maintain a “Knowledge Map” of what is known and what isn’t about ICTs in education, especially as it pertains to education-related Millennium Development Goals”, highlighting and pointing to key general assertions and gaps in the knowledge base of what is known about the use of information and communication technologies (ICTs) in education.
