Background / Terms of Reference

In April 2006, infoDev commissioned a study on “Innovation and Entrepreneurship in Developing Countries: Impact Assessment and Lessons Learned from infoDev’s Global Network of Business Incubators.” This study focuses on Monitoring, Evaluation and Impact Assessment (MEIA) and aims to:

  • Draw lessons from the business incubators in supporting innovation and entrepreneurship in developing countries
  • Assess the key challenges for business incubation and how they have been addressed by the incubators
  • Provide recommendation for sustainable and effective support for the development of a vibrant network of innovators and business incubators globally
  • Develop 10 detailed case studies of institutions providing entrepreneurship and business development support
  • Implement and revise the infoDev incubation monitoring and evaluation survey tool for wider dissemination
  • Build monitoring and evaluation capacity within business incubators participating in the assessment

The results of this assessment will be presented at the 2nd Global Forum on Business Incubation taking place in Hyderabad, India, November 6-10, 2006.
