The 2nd Meeting of the IGF will be held in Rio de Janerio on 12-15, November 2007, hosted by the Brazilian Government. The Internet Governance Forum (IGF)'s mandate, as set out by the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS), is to facilitate multi-stakeholder dialogue on a range of issues relating to the Internet.
The meeting is organized around four themes: Access, Diversity, Openness, Security and Critical Internet Resources. The Forum will also provide an online Discussion Space for stakeholders to post comments and views on these themes and to allow for remote participation in the meeetings.
infoDev, together with APC, the Panos Institute, the Internet Society and the governments of the UK and India, will be organising a discussion forum entitled "Partnerships in Practice" which will explore how multistakeholder partnerships on Internet issues can ensure open and inclusive communications policies. infoDev has also been invited to address the main Access plenary session which will consider how wider and more pervasive access to the Internet can be achieved in the developing world.
