infoDev is seeking a professional with experience in incubation, innovation and entrepreneurship, and excellent English writing skills, to edit a large international Monitoring and Evaluation Impact Assessment Report conducted by info Dev, and to write a series of briefs on incubation on the basis of the Report.
Background
In 2002, infoDev started the Incubator Initiative. The Initiative provides grant financing and capacity building services to business incubators across Africa, Asia, the Caribbean, Eastern Europe, Latin America and the Middle East. In 2006, info Dev conducted a large scale Monitoring and Evaluation Impact Assessment covering more than 50 business incubators in 50 countries. The Assessment yielded valuable lessons and insights for business incubators, policymakers and others supporting innovation and entrepreneurship in developing countries.
Terms of Reference
The Monitoring and Evaluation Impact Assessment Report (MEIA) consists of a 130 page report, 120 pages of appendices, and 10 case studies.
The Consultant will work under the supervision of the Operations Officer of the Innovation and Entrepreneurship team to:
- Write 5-6 page briefs for policymakers, donors and incubators summarizing and clearly presenting the most pertinent information from MEIA.
- Write a 5-6 pager addressing "why incubation?" in collaboration with info Dev’s Regional Facilitators.
- Edit and structure the full MEIA Report in concise, reader friendly chapters for publishing online.
- Follow-up on interesting examples provided in the MEIA Report to write up short features to enrich info Dev’s Incubation Toolkit found at www.idisc.net
- Work closely with the Communications Analyst to ensure proper desktopping and integration of the materials on iDisc
