IFC and infoDev have jointly launched an online discussion on technology transfer - the process of sharing knowledge and technologies among institutions who can further develop these technologies by creating new products and services. The purpose of this online discussion is to explore how developing countries can best facilitate the transfer and commercialization of technology from research institutions - whether from within their domestic institutions; between developing countries; or between developing and industrialized nations.
The Technology Transfer Facility website is structured around an IFC study by Stephen Sammut that addresses the subject in addition to potential roles that the IFC can play for improving the process of technology commercialization. Expert opinions have been solicited to complement the report. Finally, presentations from the TTF Convocation have been made available.
