Manny Fernando, President of MegaMobile gave an overview and said that there are rich opportunities for Value Added Services (VAS) in the mobile industry. According to Manny, mobile VAS accounted for 5.0B in 2008, roughly 3% of wireless revenues. (In the Philippines, the wireless market is a P154B industry. Currently there are 65 M registered subscribers in the country). For mobile developers, Manny identified several key considerations to success, namely: handset support considerations, diversity to suit all market segments and ease and relevance of the proposition. creative in the crafting of business models since not all applications will be successful.
