Workshops on ICT and Education in the Pacific
Assessing the potential of ICTs to help meet educational goals in Pacific Island nations
Summary
Background
Together with UNESCO-Bangkok, UNESCO-Apia and with logistical coordination from the Pacific Island Forum Secretariat, infoDev is sponsoring two events in Fiji for ministers, senior policymakers and practitioners in the Pacific, examining issues related to the effective and appropriate use of ICTS to aid a variety of developmental objectives in the education sector:
- A one-day High-Level Forum for Ministers of Education (in Nadi)
- A five-day workshop for senior government officials and practitioners, utilizing the “ICT in Education Policymakers Toolkit (in Lautoka)
These events will take place from September 25-30, 2006 in Fiji, coinciding with a meeting of the Pacific Island Forum Secretariat, which works with member governments to enhance the economic and social well-being of the people of the South Pacific by fostering cooperation between governments and between international agencies.
This is the first jointly funded activity between infoDev and UNESCO under a larger partnership framework agreement for jointly sponsored research and capacity building activities, knowledge sharing and materials dissemination.
This project is proudly supported and funded by the European Commission.
