The World Bank's new SDI report, affiliated with the University of Nottingham's ELOGEO project, is available in Wiki form here.

Supported by the Korean Trust Fund on ICT for Development, infoDev and the World Bank Group’s Finance, Economics and Urban Department (FEU) worked with Jordan and Uganda in 2011 to explore, assess and share the best ways to use GIS in areas such as health, education, agriculture and rural development, clean technology and public administration.

These studies are now available for download from the infoDev website. View the documents using the Publications tab above.

GIS is now essential for many technical experts in development. Its unique integrating capabilities make GIS a powerful tool for monitoring development outcomes. As organizations using GIS need to integrate data from different sources, it is essential to create an environment that supports ready access and wider use of spatial data. This can be done by establishing sound SDI practices.  The Spatial Data Infrastructure for Development (SDI4MDGs) project will synthesize lessons from global experience on how this powerful tool can help to monitor and achieve the Millennium Development  Goals.
