The Business Models of mLabs and mHubs

The Business Models of mLabs and mHubs

An Evaluation of infoDev’s Mobile Innovation Support Pilots

infoDev releases a new report detailing lessons learned through its support of Mobile Application Laboratories (mLabs) and Mobile Social Networking Hubs (mHubs). The findings in this report will be useful primarily to current and future managers, consortium organizations, and funders of mLabs and mHubs.

infoDev piloted Mobile Application Laboratories (mLabs) and Mobile Social Networking Hubs (mHubs) as part of its Creating Sustainable Business in the Knowledge Economy (CBSKE) project.

We currently have four mLabs and eight mHubs in eleven countries across East Asia, Sub-Saharan Africa, Eastern Europe, Central Asia, and the Caucasus (ECA). The findings in this report will be useful primarily to current and future managers, consortium organizations, and funders of mLabs and mHubs.

We conducted seven in-depth case studies, using the Business Model Canvas as a framework, to better understand how to improve the business model design of mLabs and mHubs as well as similar technology innovation hubs.  Continuous learning will be needed to better understand the dynamics of mLabs, mHubs, and how infoDev could maximize their effectiveness. Download the full report to learn more about our findings and lessons learned.
