Press Release: African mAgri Challenge winners compete this week with top entrepreneurs in World Bank-based pitching contest
Washington D.C., 14 November 2013 - Two apps from Kenya, one from Senegal, and one from Ghana are the winners of the mAgri Challenge—a competition designed to identify entrepreneurs developing innovative mobile apps for agriculture and agribusiness in Africa, and to provide them with resources to grow their businesses.
“Africa as a geographic space is a hotbed for innovation right now. Never before have we seen so many people pick up the entrepreneurial challenge,” said Ben White, opening speaker on Day 3 of infoDev’s Mobile Startup Camp.
infoDev’s Mobile Startup Camp has almost arrived! Designed to accelerate the growth of early-stage mobile entrepreneurs from emerging and frontier markets, the five-day program of lectures and hands-on workshops will provide participants with an opportunity to refine their product strategies, business models and marketing pitches, sharpen their negotiating skills, and network with investors and peers. The week’s activities will also include a Demo Day–a pitching competition before a panel of industry experts and angel investors.
