The Climate Technology Program (CTP) brought together stakeholders from Climate Innovation Center’s to exchange know-how, establish partnerships and to present at infoDev’s Global Forum on Innovation and Entrepreneurship that took place on May 28-30, 2013. The CTP organized an “Innovation for Green Growth” session, which took place on May 30,2013, to highlight the importance of green growth and to present how climate technologies are creating lucrative new business opportunities in developing countries.
Every day, innovative women entrepreneurs are emerging throughout the developing world. These women are spearheading companies, creating jobs, and driving the charge toward gender equality.
Entrepreneurs are a rare breed. Creative, ambitious, and versatile, they are outgoing, comfortable with change, and see opportunities where many others only see challenges. These characteristics and more are why entrepreneurs are able to create innovative business models that drive economic growth, and why finding new and better ways of supporting them was a primary focus of infoDev’s 5th Global Forum on Innovation and Technology Entrepreneurship, which took place in East London, South Africa at the end of May.
The Dragons' Den Pitching Competition was an opportunity to celebrate entrepreneurial success through the global stage of infoDev's 5th Global Forum and enable entrepreneurs to benefit from this celebration. It brought together promising entrepreneurs from Africa and other developing regions to compete for awards, and connect them with mentors, angels, coporate partners, and other high growth entrepreneurs from around the globe.

East London, May 28, 2013 - Nokia, AppCampus, and infoDev, a global innovation program of the World Bank, today announced a collaboration with mobile innovation hubs across Africa, Asia and Latin America - a move that will empower these hubs to act as scouts and agents for local talent, fast-tracking their access to AppCampus funding.
East London, 28 May 2013 - The 5th infoDev Global Forum on Innovation and Technology Entrepreneurship started today at the East London International Convention Centre in the Eastern Cape, South Africa.
infoDev is on the ground in East London, South Africa gearing up for its 5th Global Forum on Innovation and Entrepreneurship. Organized with the South African Department of Science and Technology, the 3-day Forum kicks off next week.
The Forum is co-organized with the South African Department of Science and Technology. The event is expected to attract over 600 participants, ranging from entrepreneurs, business incubator managers, policy makers and government representatives, financiers, local and international media, and development agencies for a creative networking and knowledge-sharing experience.
As part of its Women Innovators Network in the Caribbean (WINC), infoDev launched today the Innovative Women Entrepreneurs Competition. The two winners will be invited to participate in infoDev's 5th Global Forum on Innovation and Technology Entrepreneurship in East London, South Africa on May 28-30, 2013.
