The global transition to a green economy combined with rapid growth in emerging markets has created enormous market opportunities for clean technology in developing countries. These new opportunities, along with their new challenges, will be discussed at the Climate Technology ‘Deep Dive’, “Cleantech Growth Opportunities in Emerging Markets” which will be held on May 31st – Day 2 of infoDev’s 4th Global Forum on Innovation and Entrepreneurhip, at the Marina Congress Center in Helsinki, Finland.
For more information:
The day will include three workshops/roundtables from 9:00-15:30 focused on rapidly developing opportunities that clean technology can pursue in the emerging markets. The first two sessions will facilitate dynamic and open discussions from the private sector including climate technology SMEs from the ‘South’ and Finnish climate technology companies from the ‘North’. Developing country entrepreneurs will discuss the challenges and needs to opening up regional and international markets to promote trade and exporting. Finnish companies will discuss their needs in partnering with local emerging market companies to support joint venture and market entry opportunities.
The afternoon session will host a panel of African policy makers who will discuss the design of an African CIC Network, taking into consideration the needs described by companies in the morning sessions. infoDev will use the outcomes of the Deep Dive to assist in the design of a CIC network which can be rolled out across multiple countries in Africa and replicated globally.
The Climate Technology Deep Dive will allow participants to:
- Explore the latest international programs supporting climate technology innovation and investment and understand how the private sector can partner with infoDev’s Climate Innovation Centers to facilitate investment, joint ventures and market entry.
- Meet, network and participate in discussions with developing country start-ups, technology providers/manufacturers and experts about the growing cleantech opportunities in their markets.
The Global Forum on Innovation and Technology Entrepreneurship is infoDev’s biennial flagship event convening the global innovation and entrepreneurship community. The Global Forum gathers hundreds of attendees - business incubator managers, policy-makers, start-ups, financiers and development agencies from around the world to exchange know-how, establish partnerships and develop innovative approaches to doing business in emerging markets. We look forward to welcoming you to Helsinki!
