Editor and Writer

The World Bank Group’s infoDev program is seeking an editor and writer on a short-term consultancy (STC) basis to support the activities of its global climate technology program (infoDev Climate).

infoDev (www.infodev.org) is a global multi-donor program in the Trade & Competitiveness Global Practice of the World Bank Group. Its mission is to enable innovative entrepreneurship for sustainable, and inclusive growth in developing countries.

infoDev’s Climate Technology Program (infoDev Climate) helps local firms commercialize and scale the most innovative private sector solutions to climate change. infoDev Climate achieves this through its Climate Business Innovation Network, in which local and global institutions work together to complement their offerings and provide a full suite of support activities to local firms.

The network provides global partners with country-level insights and knowledge, access to local markets, and channels for crowding in public and private financing into climate innovation. At the country-level, small and growing businesses benefit from better financing, stronger support from local institutions, and better access to global knowledge and market connections. With infoDev Climate support, the success of these growing clean-tech firms leads to emissions reduction and improved climate resiliency, while also enabling developing countries to capture greater value in the innovation value chain, build competitive sectors, and create jobs.

As part of its global mandate, infoDev Climate uses its global reach and experience in pioneering new models to draw new lessons and insights on how best to support climate technology entrepreneurs and the ecosystems that support them. Lessons and insights might include an analysis of climate technology innovation and deployment challenges, an analysis of how successful entrepreneurial ecosystems develop, types of possible program interventions and their implications and impacts, approaches to supporting local ecosystem builders and market intermediaries, and practical guidelines for designing entrepreneurship support instruments such as incubators and seed funds. The audience for this knowledge might include policymakers, international development organizations and other stakeholders supporting green and inclusive entrepreneurship.
