In early April, the mLab Team rose above around 30 others in Armenia with a water quality test-kit and mobile app combo. To enhance the app's impact, the app publishes statistical data on regional levels of water pollution to users worldwide, potentially bolstering regional calls for water quality control and inspection.
The team will vie with 73 others in the Software Design category, the most competitive by a wide margin. Microsoft released the full list of finalists last week.
The competition, now in its tenth year, will offer a total of US$175,000 in cash prizes; in addition, all the 2012 Imagine Cup Worldwide Finalists will be eligible to apply for Imagine Cup Grants to bring their ideas into the world.
